The Burlington Tri-option Triathlon, 3 days-3 events, 1 great cause

Marathon
  1. The Burlington Tri-option is a three day event on May 22, 23, 24 to benefit Local area school physical education programs and UVM club rugby. Our event partners are Run Vermont, UVM SGA and Vermont Fit.
The Event
  1. The unique event allows you to spread out the full Ironman or half ironman distance over three days. You can choose between a half ironman distance or a full ironman distance. On Friday May 22nd you will do the swim (if weather and facilities permit (water temp >60F) this will be an open water swim, May 23rd you will do the bike ride leaving from UVM Gutterson Parking lot, and on May 24th you will run in the Vermont City Marathon.
  2. NOTE: This event is unplugged and roads will not be closed for the bike route. There will be aid stations on the bike route.


Swimmer How it all works
  1. 1) Click here and complete our 100% secure Active.com registration by April 27th. Or simply download the registration form and send it to Vermont Fit.
  2. 2) If the swim is indoors you will be assigned a swim time and lane between the hours of 4.00pm - 8.00pm on Friday May 22nd.
  3. 3) The 112 mile riders will leave at 7.00am on May 23rd, and the 56 mile riders will leave at 9.30am.
  4. 4) You will be assigned either a two-person relay or single runner bib and chip for the marathon on Sunday May 24th. You will simply run the marathon as you would if you were a registered runner. If you are a half-ironman distance competitor you will be assigned a partner and one of you will run the first 13.1 miles and the other the second 13.1 miles making the switch at Oakledge Park. You can decide with your partner who runs which leg.
  5. NOTE: Your registration fee for the T3 includes your marathon registration.
